Recently, Vietnam agreed to grant tariff exemptions for certain Cambodian goods to promote and expand bilateral trade. The Cambodian Ministry of Commerce issued a notice stating that the governments of Cambodia and Vietnam signed a two-year bilateral trade promotion agreement (2025–2026) on April 28, under which Vietnam will apply a zero-import tariff rate to 28 categories of Cambodian-origin products.
Producers and exporters intending to ship rice and tobacco to Vietnam must register with the General Department of Business Services under the Ministry of Commerce by June 27 to benefit from the preferential tariff treatment.
According to data from the Cambodian General Department of Customs, trade between Cambodia and Vietnam reached $7.78 billion in 2024, marking an 18.2% increase. Of this, Cambodia's exports to Vietnam amounted to $3.61 billion (up 21.6%), while imports from Vietnam totaled $4.16 billion (up 15.4%).
Cambodia's key exports to Vietnam include paddy rice, rubber, cashew nuts, cassava, corn, bananas, mangoes, and tobacco, while Vietnam primarily exports construction materials, machinery, fuel, electronics, fertilizers, spices, vegetables, and fruitsto Cambodia.
The two countries' leaders have set a target to increase bilateral trade to $20 billion, further tapping into each other's market potential and fostering balanced and sustainable growth in trade relations.
