According to *Vietnam News Agency* on May 12, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam has requested enterprises, enterprise associations, and industry associations exporting products to the United States to continue providing specific information and data. This is to prove the compliance of Vietnamese products with U.S. requirements, including origin rules and other standards related to products manufactured in Vietnam.
1. Current Trade Context
1.1. The U.S. is currently Vietnam's comprehensive strategic partner and largest export market.
1.2. Vietnam ranks as the U.S.'s eighth-largest trading partner.
1.3. Vietnamese products are favored by U.S. consumers for their high quality and reasonable prices.
1.4. Vietnamese exports do not directly compete with U.S.-made products and thus do not harm U.S. producers or businesses; instead, they help U.S. consumers access quality products at competitive prices.
1.5. Vietnamese exports largely meet U.S. technical standards, including specifications and origin criteria.
2. Trade Diversification

3. Ministry Requests and Actions
3.1. In response to the U.S. "reciprocal tariff" policy, MOIT hopes to receive opinions from various ministries (Foreign Affairs, Finance, Construction, Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology) and industry representatives.
3.2. Enterprises in sectors such as textiles, footwear, electronics, steel, aluminum, cashews, machinery, etc., are also encouraged to provide feedback regarding U.S. tariff policies.
3.3. Coordination with U.S. investment and business partners is urged to continue advocating, persuading, and promoting awareness shifts to gain support from U.S. consumers and policymakers for maintaining normal trade flows of Vietnamese goods into the U.S.
3.4. The Ministry calls for the U.S. to open its market early to high-tech products from the U.S. and to develop a roadmap considering Vietnam's market economy status.
4. Long-Term Development Strategy
4.1. MOIT advises enterprises to focus on accelerating structural reforms, especially green transformation, digitalization, innovation, and technological development.
4.2. Industry and market restructuring should be promoted to diversify markets, supply chains, and export products to ensure sustainable development.
