China Epichlorohydrin Imports Surge 320% YoY In March 2026

China's epichlorohydrin imports jumped 320.5% year-on-year in March 2026 while exports fell sharply, the latest data from China's General Administration of Customs showed.

March 2026 Trade At A Glance

Imports of epichlorohydrin reached 499.6 tonnes in March, surging 320.5% from a year earlier, though falling 48.5% from the previous month. The average import price stood at $1,406.2 per tonne, up 5.7% month-on-month and 7.2% year-on-year.

Exports totaled 1,471.3 tonnes, declining 26.0% from February and dropping 32.3% compared with March 2025. The average export price rose to $1,760.1 per tonne, gaining 4.7% month-on-month and 31.4% year-on-year.

Q1 2026 Cumulative Data

For the first three months of 2026, China's total epichlorohydrin imports reached 2,068.8 tonnes, representing a massive 1,216.0% increase year-on-year. Exports over the same period totaled 4,241.9 tonnes, a sharp decline of 69.3% from a year earlier.

India Dominates Export Destinations

India, Russia, Mexico, Colombia and Japan were the top five destinations for Chinese epichlorohydrin exports in the January-March period, collectively accounting for 4,114.5 tonnes, or 97.0% of total outbound shipments.

India led by a wide margin with 3,394.2 tonnes, representing 80.0% of total exports. Russia ranked second at 523.1 tonnes (12.3%), followed by Mexico at 100.0 tonnes (2.4%), Colombia at 72.0 tonnes (1.7%) and Japan at 25.2 tonnes (0.6%).
