China Industrial Output Growth Accelerates To 5.3% In June

China's industrial production strengthened in June, with manufacturing activity and high-tech sectors supporting overall growth, according to data showing steady expansion across major industries. In June, China's industrial added value among enterprises above designated size increased 5.3% year on year in real terms, with growth accelerating 0.8 percentage points from the previous month. On a monthly basis, industrial added value rose 0.76% from May. During the first half of the year, industrial added value increased 5.4% year on year.

By sector, manufacturing remained the key growth driver in June. Manufacturing added value rose 6.0% year on year, while electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply increased 7.4%. Mining activity declined 2.2% during the same period.

By ownership type, state-controlled enterprises recorded a 4.1% year-on-year increase in industrial added value in June. Joint-stock enterprises grew 6.2%, foreign-funded enterprises including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan rose 1.8%, while private enterprises increased 4.3%.

Across industries, 29 of the 41 major industrial categories reported year-on-year growth in June. Coal mining and washing fell 5.9%, while oil and natural gas extraction increased 1.0%. Agricultural and food processing grew 3.1%, beverage and tea manufacturing rose 6.1%, and textile production increased 3.4%.

Chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing declined 0.1%, while non-metallic mineral products fell 2.3%. Ferrous metal smelting and processing increased 3.3%, whereas non-ferrous metal smelting and processing dropped 3.8%.

Equipment manufacturing showed strong momentum, with general equipment manufacturing rising 9.9% and specialized equipment manufacturing increasing 10.0%. Automobile manufacturing grew 8.7%, while railway, shipbuilding, aerospace and other transportation equipment manufacturing surged 18.2%. Electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing rose 7.0%, and computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing climbed 15.7%. Electricity production and supply increased 7.8%.

China's industrial product output also showed mixed performance in June. Among 626 major industrial products, 314 recorded year-on-year production growth. Steel output reached 126.56 million tonnes, unchanged from a year earlier. Cement production totaled 144.23 million tonnes, down 5.6%, while output of ten non-ferrous metals reached 7.19 million tonnes, up 3.9%.

Ethylene production increased 5.5% to 3.37 million tonnes. Automobile production stood at 2.824 million units, down 0.2% year on year, while new energy vehicle production reached 1.624 million units, rising 29.4%. Power generation increased 2.0% to 827.6 billion kilowatt-hours, while crude oil processing fell 17.7% to 51.24 million tonnes

Industrial enterprises above designated size recorded a product sales ratio of 95.5% in June, up 0.8 percentage points from a year earlier. Export delivery value reached 1.5592 trillion yuan, representing a nominal year-on-year increase of 14.8%, reflecting continued external demand support for China's industrial sector.
