In December 2025, China's plastic products output totaled 7.587 million tonnes, representing a year-on-year decrease of 3.5%. For the full year, total production reached 79.199 million tonnes, down 0.2% compared with 2024.
The data highlight continued pressure on China's plastics manufacturing sector amid evolving domestic demand and industrial adjustments.
Top 5 Provinces by Plastic Products Output in December
In December alone, the top five producing provinces accounted for a significant share of national output:
• Guangdong Province: 1.336 million tonnes, accounting for 17.6% of total output
• Zhejiang Province: 1.252 million tonnes, accounting for 16.5%
• Hubei Province: 655,000 tonnes, accounting for 8.6%
• Jiangsu Province: 597,000 tonnes, accounting for 7.9%
• Shandong Province: 517,000 tonnes, accounting for 6.8%
Guangdong and Zhejiang remained the leading production hubs, together contributing over one-third of China's monthly plastic products output.
Regional Breakdown: Eastern China Maintains Dominance in 2025
From January to December 2025, eastern China continued to lead nationwide plastic products manufacturing, with cumulative output reaching 49.512 million tonnes, representing 62.5% of the national total.
Other regional figures include:
• Central China: 18.882 million tonnes (23.8%)
• Western China: 9.078 million tonnes (11.5%)
• Northeast China: 1.727 million tonnes (2.2%)
The data underscore the strong concentration of China's plastic production capacity in the eastern region, while central and western regions continue to expand their industrial footprint.
