China Plastic Products Output Hits 25.06 Million Tons in Jan-Apr 2026

China's plastic products industry recorded steady production growth in the first four months of 2026, with total output reaching 25.06 million metric tons, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The NBS data showed that China produced 6.621 million metric tons of plastic products in April 2026, broadly unchanged from the same period a year earlier. For the January-April period, cumulative output increased 1.5% year-on-year to 25.062 million metric tons.

Provincial data indicated that Zhejiang remained the country's largest plastic products manufacturing hub in April, producing 1.177 million metric tons and accounting for 17.8% of national output.

Guangdong ranked second with production of 1.039 million metric tons, representing 15.7% of the national total. Hubei followed with 553,000 metric tons, accounting for 8.3%, while Jiangsu produced 535,000 metric tons, representing 8.1%. Shandong completed the top five with output of 491,000 metric tons, equivalent to 7.4% of China's total plastic products production in April.

By region, eastern China maintained a dominant position in the industry during the first four months of 2026. The region produced a cumulative 15.681 million metric tons of plastic products, accounting for 62.6% of national output.

Central China recorded production of 6.061 million metric tons, representing 24.2% of the total. Western China produced 2.817 million metric tons, accounting for 11.2%, while northeastern China contributed 503,000 metric tons, or 2.0% of nationwide output during the January-April period.

The figures underscore the continued concentration of China's plastic products manufacturing sector in the country's eastern provinces, which remain the primary drivers of national production.
