China PVC Imports Fall in April 2026, Exports Drop Sharply MoM

In April 2026, China's imports and exports of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pure powder recorded divergent trends, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs.

PVC pure powder imports totaled 16,000 metric tons in April, down 12.2% month-on-month and 40.3% year-on-year. Exports reached 285,000 metric tons, decreasing 58.4% from the previous month and falling 21.0% compared with the same period last year.

From January to April, cumulative imports of PVC pure powder stood at 57,000 metric tons, a year-on-year decline of 33.5%. Over the same period, cumulative exports totaled 1.702 million metric tons, up 27.3% year-on-year.

In April, China's PVC pure powder imports mainly came from the United States, Japan, and Taiwan. These accounted for 52.9%, 19.3%, and 13.7% of total imports, respectively.

On the export side, shipments were primarily directed to India, Vietnam, and Indonesia, which made up 15.5%, 3.7%, and 2.8% of total exports, respectively.

During the January–April period, imports were largely sourced from the United States at 31,000 metric tons, Japan at 14,000 metric tons, and Taiwan at 10,000 metric tons, accounting for 54.9%, 24.2%, and 17.2% of total imports, respectively.

Over the same period, exports were mainly shipped to India, Vietnam, and Indonesia, at 676,000 metric tons, 140,000 metric tons, and 94,000 metric tons, representing 39.7%, 8.2%, and 5.5% of total exports, respectively.
