According to the latest customs data, China's trade performance for dichloromethane and trichloromethane in 2025 reflected sharply contrasting dynamics across imports, exports, pricing and destination markets.
In December 2025, China imported 16.4 tonnes of dichloromethane, down 4.9% month on month but up 255.2% year on year. Exports totaled 15,964.4 tonnes, representing a month-on-month decline of 31.7% while still posting a year-on-year increase of 9.1%. The average export price stood at USD 351.8 per tonne, rising 3.9% from the previous month but falling 22.5% compared with the same period a year earlier.
For the full year 2025, China's dichloromethane imports reached 176.1 tonnes, plunging 91.7% year on year, while exports climbed to 213,239.6 tonnes, an increase of 40.5%. By destination, Turkey, Vietnam, Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria ranked as the top five export markets from January to December, with combined shipments of 92,749.2 tonnes, accounting for 43.5% of total exports. Turkey led with 28,529.8 tonnes (13.4%), followed by Vietnam at 22,450.0 tonnes (10.5%), Brazil at 15,411.6 tonnes (7.2%), the UAE at 13,336.3 tonnes (6.3%) and Nigeria at 13,021.6 tonnes (6.1%).
Trichloromethane trade, by contrast, remained subdued on the export side. In December 2025, China exported 84.0 tonnes, down 9.6% month on month and sharply lower by 83.7% year on year. The export price averaged USD 334.4 per tonne, a month-on-month decrease of 8.0%. Over the January–December period, China imported 6,988.7 tonnes of trichloromethane, marking a year-on-year increase of 57.2%, while exports fell 35.2% to 1,811.5 tonnes.
Export flows of trichloromethane were highly concentrated. South Korea, Brazil, Ukraine, Iran and Argentina accounted for 1,791.8 tonnes, or 98.9% of total exports in 2025. South Korea dominated with 1,611.8 tonnes, representing 89.0% of the total, followed by Brazil with 72 tonnes (4.0%), Ukraine with 60 tonnes (3.3%), Iran with 24 tonnes (1.3%) and Argentina with 24 tonnes (1.3%).
All reported transactions for both dichloromethane and trichloromethane were conducted under the general trade regime.
