China's Chemical Manufacturing Sector Sees 7.6% Year-on-Year Growth in August
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China on September 15, in August, the industrial added value of enterprises above designated size grew by 5.2% year-on-year. Among them, the oil and natural gas extraction industry increased by 4.7%, while the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry grew by 7.6%.
From January to August, the industrial added value of enterprises above designated size grew by 6.2% year-on-year. Among them, the oil and natural gas extraction industry increased by 3.9%, and the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry increased by 8.0%.
By sector, in August, the mining industry grew by 5.1%, manufacturing by 5.7%, and the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, and water increased by 2.4%.
By ownership type, in August, the industrial added value of state-owned enterprises increased by 4.7% year-on-year; joint-stock enterprises grew by 6.0%; foreign and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-funded enterprises grew by 2.3%; and private enterprises increased by 4.6%.
By industry, in August, out of the 41 major industries, 31 experienced year-on-year growth in added value. Notably, the coal mining and washing industry grew by 5.1%, the oil and natural gas extraction industry grew by 4.7%, the agricultural and by-product food processing industry grew by 4.7%, the wine, beverage, and refined tea manufacturing industry decreased by 2.4%, the textile industry grew by 1.5%, the chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing industry grew by 7.6%, the non-metallic mineral products industry grew by 0.5%, the black metal smelting and rolling processing industry grew by 7.3%, the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry grew by 9.1%, the general equipment manufacturing industry grew by 7.3%, the special equipment manufacturing industry grew by 4.0%, the automobile manufacturing industry grew by 8.4%, the manufacturing of railway, shipbuilding, aerospace, and other transport equipment grew by 12.0%, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry grew by 9.8%, and the manufacturing of computers, communications, and other electronic devices grew by 9.9%. The electricity and heat production and supply industry grew by 2.5%.
By product, in August, of the 623 products produced by enterprises above designated size, 319 products saw year-on-year increases in production. Specifically, steel production reached 12.277 million tons, increasing by 9.7%; cement production was 14.802 million tons, down by 6.2%; the production of ten major non-ferrous metals reached 6.98 million tons, increasing by 3.8%; ethylene production was 3.14 million tons, up by 10.4%; automobile production was 2.752 million units, increasing by 10.5%, of which new energy vehicles reached 1.333 million units, growing by 22.7%; electricity generation was 936.3 billion kWh, up by 1.6%; crude oil processing reached 63.46 million tons, increasing by 7.6%.
In August, the product sales rate of industrial enterprises above designated size was 96.6%, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points year-on-year. The export delivery value of industrial enterprises above designated size was 1.3029 trillion yuan, nominally decreasing by 0.4% year-on-year.
