China's Liquid Chlorine Imports Rise in December Despite 2025 Decline

According to the latest customs statistics, China imported 25.2 tonnes of liquid chlorine in December 2025, marking a sharp month-on-month increase of 65.2% and a year-on-year rise of 31.3%. The average import price stood at USD14,968.4 per tonne, down 15.7% from the previous month and 14.3% lower than a year earlier.

On a cumulative basis, China's liquid chlorine imports from January to December 2025 reached 185.3 tonnes, representing a year-on-year decline of 9.0%. Over the same period, cumulative exports totalled 7.9 tonnes, plunging 72.5% compared with the previous year.

In terms of trade structure, China's liquid chlorine imports were dominated by general trade and were mainly sourced from Japan and South Korea. From January to December, imports from Japan amounted to 152.6 tonnes, conducted through both general trade and bonded supervision area entry and exit goods. Imports from South Korea totalled 32.7 tonnes, utilising processing trade as well as bonded supervision area entry and exit goods
