China's imports of EDC products declined year-on-year in March 2026 but posted a sharp month-on-month rebound, while exports dropped to zero during the month, according to the latest data from China Customs.
China imported 41,600 metric tons of EDC products in March 2026, down 14.24% from a year earlier but up 139.65% from February.
In the first quarter of 2026, China's cumulative EDC imports reached 120,200 metric tons, marking a 40.37% increase compared with the same period last year.
On the export side, China recorded no EDC product exports in March 2026, compared with 150.75 metric tons exported in March 2025.
For the January-March period, China's cumulative EDC exports totaled 203.75 metric tons, down 60.19% year-on-year.
South Korea And Japan Remain China's Main EDC Suppliers
By origin, South Korea and Japan remained the primary suppliers of EDC products to China in March.
China imported 35,800 metric tons of EDC products from South Korea under general trade in March 2026, accounting for the majority of monthly imports, while imports from Japan stood at 5,900 metric tons.
During the first three months of 2026, China imported 114,300 metric tons of EDC products from South Korea and 5,900 metric tons from Japan.
China Records No EDC Exports In March
China reported no EDC export destinations in March 2026 due to the absence of outbound shipments.
In the first quarter, China's EDC exports were shipped to Vietnam, Tanzania, Taiwan, and Angola.
Among them, exports to Vietnam totaled 140 metric tons, accounting for 68.71% of the total.
Exports to Tanzania reached 23.75 metric tons, representing 11.66%.
Shipments to Taiwan and Angola were 20 metric tons each, each making up 9.82% of total exports.
The latest customs figures highlight China's continued reliance on imports from Northeast Asia to meet domestic EDC demand, while outbound shipments remained limited in the first quarter of 2026.
