China's propylene oxide (PO) imports and exports fell dramatically in December 2025, while full-year trade data for 2025 also showed significant year-on-year declines, according to the latest customs statistics.
In December 2025, China imported 0.15 million tonnes of propylene oxide, representing a year-on-year decrease of 94.2%. Thailand was the sole supplier during the month, accounting for 0.15 million tonnes, or 100% of total imports.
On the export side, China shipped 0.002 million tonnes of propylene oxide in December, down 92.3% compared with the same period last year. All exports were destined for Vietnam, which accounted for 100% of total outbound shipments.
For the full year from January to December 2025, China's propylene oxide imports totaled 125,300 tonnes, marking a 53.0% year-on-year decline. Thailand remained the largest supplier, exporting 63,700 tonnes to China and accounting for 50.8% of total imports. Saudi Arabia ranked second with 33,800 tonnes (27.0%), followed by the United States with 19,100 tonnes (15.2%).
During the same period, China exported 9,200 tonnes of propylene oxide, a year-on-year decrease of 31.3%. South Korea was the leading export destination, receiving 4,400 tonnes and representing 47.5% of total exports. India imported 2,000 tonnes (21.6%), while Japan received 1,500 tonnes (16.2%).
Overall, both monthly and annual trade flows of propylene oxide showed substantial contraction in 2025, with Thailand dominating import supply and Asian markets remaining the primary destinations for Chinese exports.
