China's PVC Trade Sees Diverging Trends as October Imports Fall but Exports Surge Year-on-Year

According to the latest customs statistics released by China, the country's trade in PVC pure powder showed mixed results in October 2025, with a significant decline in imports but sustained strong growth in exports compared to the previous year.

Official data shows that China imported 11 thousand tonnes of PVC pure powder in October 2025. This figure represents a decrease of 24.1% compared to the previous month, but an increase of 20.7% compared to the same month last year.

Conversely, China exported 312 thousand tonnes of PVC pure powder in the same month. This marked a month-on-month decrease of 9.9%, but a substantial year-on-year increase of 34.3%.

In the cumulative period from January to October 2025, China's imports of PVC pure powder reached 186 thousand tonnes, a slight year-on-year increase of 1.7%. Cumulative exports for the same period totalled 3.234 million tonnes, reflecting a significant year-on-year surge of 48.9%.

The statistics also detailed the primary trading partners for October. China's PVC pure powder imports were primarily sourced from the United States, Japan, and Taiwan, China, which accounted for 57.3%, 23.2%, and 10.8% of the total import volume, respectively.

For exports in October, the main destination markets were India, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan, accounting for 41.0%, 6.2%, and 5.3% of the total export volume, respectively.

The cumulative data from January to October provided further insight into the leading trade partners. The United States was the largest source of imports, supplying 113 thousand tonnes, followed by Japan with 37 thousand tonnes and Taiwan, China with 28 thousand tonnes. These figures correspond to 60.7%, 19.9%, and 14.8% of the total import volume, respectively.

For cumulative exports, India was the dominant destination, receiving 1.343 million tonnes. Vietnam was the second-largest market with 201 thousand tonnes, followed by Uzbekistan with 134 thousand tonnes. These volumes account for 41.5%, 6.2%, and 4.1% of the total exports, respectively.
