In March 2025, chlorine production in Europe totaled 655,000 metric tons, representing a 5.2% year-on-year decline compared to 691,000 metric tons in March 2024. The average daily chlorine output in March 2025 was 21,100 metric tons, marking a 13.5% decrease from 24,400 metric tons in February 2025. On a year-on-year basis, the daily average output also fell by 5.4%, as the average in March 2024 stood at 22,300 metric tons.
The average operating rate of chlor-alkali plants in Europe was 65.3% in March 2025, down from 75.4% in February 2025, indicating a significant month-on-month decline. Compared to the same period in 2024, when the average operating rate was 67.9%, the March 2025 figure also reflects a downward trend.
As for caustic soda inventories, the volume in March 2025 stood at 208,000 metric tons, decreasing from 255,000 metric tons in February 2025. This also represents a reduction of 36,000 metric tons compared to 244,000 metric tons in March 2024.
