On July 15, under the joint witness of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, Frances Adamson, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the implementation and review of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA).
Since the ChAFTA came into effect in 2015, it has significantly boosted the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, yielding fruitful results. As 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the agreement’s implementation, both sides aim to seize this opportunity to maintain close cooperation, continue the high-quality implementation of the agreement, and jointly undertake a review to identify areas for further improvement or expansion. This process will enhance the level of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, providing stronger institutional support for the future growth of China-Australia trade and economic cooperation.
