China Caustic Soda Trade Update: Exports Surge 36.7% in Jan–Nov 2025

According to the latest customs statistics, in November 2025, China imported 850 tonnes of caustic soda; of which, solid caustic soda imports amounted to 810 tonnes, while liquid caustic soda imports stood at 40 tonnes. China exported 247,300 tonnes of caustic soda; of which, solid caustic soda exports reached 64,100 tonnes, and liquid caustic soda exports amounted to 183,200 tonnes.

From January to November 2025, China's cumulative caustic soda imports totalled 8,200 tonnes, representing a year-on-year decrease of 46.05%. This comprised 7,800 tonnes of solid caustic soda and 400 tonnes of liquid caustic soda. China's cumulative caustic soda exports reached 3.7325 million tonnes, representing a year-on-year increase of 36.7%. This comprised 612,100 tonnes of solid caustic soda exports (up 40.74% year-on-year) and 3.1204 million tonnes of liquid caustic soda exports (up 35.93% year-on-year).

From January to November 2025, the top five destinations for China's liquid caustic soda exports were Indonesia (39.81%), Australia (36.85%), Taiwan, China (7.24%), Papua New Guinea (2.98%), and Saudi Arabia (2.31%). The top five destinations for China's solid caustic soda exports were Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Ghana, accounting for 10.81%, 7.96%, 7.72%, 6.11% and 4.73% respectively.
