China's exports of trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene recorded strong year-on-year growth in the first two months of 2026, despite a month-on-month slowdown in February, according to customs data.
Trichloroethylene Exports Rise Over 65% Year-on-Year
China exported 4,000 tons of trichloroethylene in January 2026, up 65.4% year-on-year. February exports fell to 2,000 tons, down 39.3% from January, but still 69.1% higher than a year earlier.
For the January–February period, total exports reached 7,000 tons, marking a 66.8% increase year-on-year.
Perchloroethylene Exports More Than Double
Exports of perchloroethylene showed even stronger growth. China shipped 8,000 tons in January, rising 133.6% year-on-year. February exports declined to 6,000 tons, a 23.0% month-on-month drop, but surged 564.9% compared with the same period last year.
Cumulative exports for January–February totaled 13,000 tons, up 225.4% year-on-year.
Export Destinations Concentrated in Key Global Markets
From January to February 2026, China's trichloroethylene exports were primarily directed to major industrial economies:
• India: 24.2%
• United States: 15.8%
• Russia: 11.2%
• Japan: 9.5%
• Türkiye: 8.9%
Perchloroethylene exports were more heavily concentrated, with one dominant destination:
• United Arab Emirates: 78.2%
• Russia: 3.0%
• Türkiye: 2.9%
• India: 2.0%
• Mexico: 1.6%
Market Context
The data highlights robust external demand for chlorinated solvents in early 2026, with both trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene exports posting substantial annual gains. However, the decline in February volumes suggests short-term shipment fluctuations following strong January performance.
