According to customs statistics, China exported 4,000 tonnes of trichloroethylene (TCE) in December 2025, down 12.4% month on month but up 97.8% year on year. For the full year of 2025, cumulative TCE exports reached 39,000 tonnes, representing a 46.7% increase compared with the previous year.
In contrast, China's perchloroethylene (PCE) exports totaled 2,000 tonnes in December 2025, marking a sharp month-on-month decline of 69.4% and a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%. Despite the weak December performance, full-year PCE exports showed strong growth. From January to December 2025, China exported a total of 47,000 tonnes of PCE, up 105.3% from the same period a year earlier.
An analysis of export destinations in 2025 shows that China's TCE shipments were primarily directed to India, the United States, Japan, Russia and South Korea, accounting for 24.0%, 20.8%, 12.7%, 5.8% and 4.3% of total exports, respectively.
For PCE, export markets were more concentrated. The United Arab Emirates was the largest destination, absorbing 52.2% of China's total PCE exports in 2025, followed by Russia at 7.0%, Türkiye at 4.9%, Mexico at 4.0% and India at 3.6%.
Overall, the data indicate strong annual growth in China's exports of both chlorinated solvents in 2025, despite notable month-on-month volatility toward the end of the year.
